Account already created: a referral decision path

Playing a trial, owning a ship and having an old RSI login are different situations. Work from the account’s creation time and its current referral association.
A code is already attached
Keep the existing referral association. RSI does not offer code swapping or repeated signup rewards on the same account. Using a different enlist link does not modify the older account, and another purchase does not reset registration.
No code, account younger than 24 hours
Use the referral entry at the bottom of the account summary while the grace period is open. This can remain possible even if you have already logged into the alpha. Keep account UEC separate from the temporary aUEC shown during testing; late entry can delay its appearance. RSI currency definitions
No code, account outside the window
Direct entry is no longer available. RSI describes a support-assisted closure route only for eligible accounts without completed pledges or accepted gifts. Do not close a purchased account or abandon access to pursue a small currency reward.
Prepare a support question
Give RSI the account age and the specific error through its own support form. Ask which account rule applies; do not assume support can override the policy. Check the account summary on RSI for the creation date and any attached referral.

Add the code at signup or within 24 hours of creating your account. That is not a deadline to buy. A free account can join public Free Fly events during their announced windows. Special event rewards have separate rules. RSI rules
